ERS News has learned that TMZ.com, a internet based celebrity web site and recently launched syndicated television show, employed a convicted registered sex offender by the name of Glenn Gurniak. Gurniak worked with TMZ for an extended period of time in 2006 and early 2007. Gurniak is known on the street and by TMZ’s own web posted reports by the moniker "G-Hollywood".

"G-Hollywood" was touted by TMZ.com for months on its widely popular celebrity related website. TMZ is well known for its unique style of aggressive, "in your face" paparazzi reporting style on the world of celebrities and Hollywood related news. TMZ.com is one of the most widely popular celebrity related websites on the net. It has also become a routinely used source of news and information by other broadcast, print and online media outlets.

Gurniak is also well known to police and the California registered sex offender database. You can view Gurniak’s "Megan's Law" entry below on the State of California's sex offender registry.

TMZ.com which launched in late 2005 is led by Harvey Levin a former lawyer and past local CBS Los Angeles TV reporter. TMZ has a cadre of "paparazzo" still and video photographers who troll the streets of Los Angeles and elsewhere looking to capture the daily ins and outs of celebrity comings and goings. Gurniak is well known on the streets of Los Angeles for being one of those "paparazzo" photographers.

TMZ made headlines as well last week by paying Thomas J. Riccio, the ex con and sports collectable dealer a reported $150,000 for the rights to broadcast a secretly made audio tape inside the Las Vegas hotel room, when it's alleged OJ Simpson and others barged into the room with guns and confronted and robbed two sports memorabilia collectors who were attempting to sell various Simpson and other sport collectibles.

ERS sought comment from TMZ, and its corporate parents AOL and Time Warner about their policy of employing convicted felons and currently registered sex offenders, as in the case of Gurniak. Our calls were not returned before publication. According to knowledgable sources, Gurniak is still on probation for his sex offense conviction.

Gurniak is currently employed by another major Hollywood paparazzi photo agency called Splash News. ERS sought comment about their policy in hiring someone with Gurniak’s background. Our calls were not returned prior to publication of this story.

We attempted to reach "G-Hollywood", a-k-a Glenn Gurniak, directly to ask him whether or not he disclosed his past to his employers at TMZ and Splash News, or if either company did any kind of background check. Gurniak did not return our attempts to speak with him prior to publication.

In a related story, earlier this year ERS reported on another registered sex offender who is also a well known LA paparazzo working for the celebrity photo agency X-17. In that case Ramon Leroy Kirk aka ‘Twist" was also a registered sex offender who had spent time in California State Prison for his illegal sexual actions with an underage girl.
