DRIVING WITHOUT A LICENSE: HOLLYWOOD STYLE!

With all the hoopla over heiress and Hollywood paparazzi magnet Paris Hilton slated to being doing "hard time" for 45 days because of her probation violation come June 5th in a LA county lockup in Lynwood, we wondered just how "equal", equal justice was when it came to throwing the book at drivers who are taking to the streets of Los Angeles without a driver’s license.

We found the perfect comparison, someone Paris Hilton might know, a celebrity paparazzo that takes her picture all the time on the streets of Los Angeles.

Meet RAMON LEROY KIRK, AKA "TWIST", well-known celebrity paparazzo for paparazzi photo agency X-17 here in Los Angeles.   Kirk as it happens is what anybody might call a "habitual" offender when it comes to driving without a valid driver’s license.

Starting in 1993 Kirk has been cited for driving on a suspended California driver’s license at least 9 times based on records obtained exclusively by ERS News.

Just to make it simple we’ll just get you up to speed on his most recent cases, which begin in 2004.

On February 27th 2004, X-17 paparazzo "TWIST" AKA Ramon Leroy Kirk had his California driver’s license suspended by the DMV.  It was reinstated in early May of the next year.  Then Kirk lost his license again on May 26th, 2006. The license was yanked by the DMV again for driving on a suspended license. He managed to get that suspension lifted on December 7th, 2006.  Take a breath, cause we’re not done yet!  On August 6th, 2006 once again Kirk was without a CA. drivers license, the DMV suspended that one and he finally got it back mid December 2006.

There’s even more, including car accidents, but we think you get the picture about Kirk’s propensity to be driving on a suspended license.

We understand that chasing celebrities around every day means your chances of getting caught are bound to go up!

ERS News has confirmed Kirk was again stopped and arrested just weeks ago on April 12th in Malibu by the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department for having an outstanding warrant. You guessed it! … for driving on a suspended license! Last but not least! Kirk has had his driving privileges suspended again for violating the terms of probation on another suspended license case on January 21st of this year and that suspension is good till the end of July 2007.  So if you happen to see this guy driving on the streets of Los Angeles do yourself and Paris Hilton a favor and give law enforcement a call and steer clear!

One other thing about TWIST (AKA Ramon Leroy Kirk) he happens to be a registered sex offender who was convicted of having sex with an underage girl and sentenced to a year and a half in state prison.

TWIST was exposed publicly for the first time early this year in a wide ranging investigative one hour television documentary which looked into the paparazzi culture here in Los Angeles. The program broadcast on the E! Entertainment Network in February documented how Kirk routinely follows celebrities such as Reese Witherspoon and others, some with young children.

Now in comparison, Paris Hilton seems to have had a pretty good driving record until September of 2006 when she was stopped in Hollywood and charged with DUI after her blood-alcohol-level registered a .08, the legal limit for driving.  She ultimately pleaded "no contest" in the case and was sentenced to 3 years probation and she had her driver’s license suspended by the DMV.

In February of this year, Hilton was stopped again by the Los Angeles County Sheriff for driving without her headlights on and speeding.  The third time since her license had been suspended. When the cops discovered she was driving on a suspended license they impounded her Bentley and arrested her.  She was released in the field after signing a promise to appear regarding driving with a suspended license.   Just last Friday, Hilton went before a judge who wasn’t buying her claim that she had been misinformed by her publicist that she was o.k. to drive after the first 30 days of the license suspension if it involved her work.

So now Hilton faces 45 days in the slammer, although her lawyers just days ago have taken legal steps to appeal the sentence. Kirk himself has an upcoming hearing June 12th in Beverly Hills on his latest case stemming from driving on a suspended license.

For some reason, we here at ERS News don't think Kirk is going to jail for a month and a half, but we guess we'll see if the cops or a judge ever figure out his creative way of beating the system. Since 2005 Kirk has failed to appear on cases three times and continues to drive the streets of LA with little trouble avoiding the fate of Paris Hilton, even if he doesn't have a valid drivers license!

Whether or not Ramon Kirk was outside the courthose last week when Paris Hilton went before the judge to take some paarazzi pictures we don't know, but if he was that would an interesting TWIST to this story!
